The plates
How big is a Baby Plate?
The standard and hex plates are about 75 × 16 mm — roughly the length of a car key — and 3.5 mm thick including the raised letters. The motorbike square is about 42 × 33 mm. All have the keyring hole built into the plate and come on a metal split ring with a short chain.
What are they made of?
They're precision made from PLA, a tough plant-based plastic, in two colours as one solid piece. That's how we get genuinely raised lettering rather than a printed sticker.
Will it match my car's number plate?
Yes. We draw every character in the UK number plate style with the real proportions, character spacing and the bigger gap between the two halves of the reg, so SE11 GET on your keys looks like SE11 GET on your car. Choose yellow for the rear, white for the front — or order both as a pair.
What's a hex plate?
A hex plate has both ends cut into a shallow point that sits a third of the way down — the six-sided "Lambo hex" show plate shape you see at car meets. Same size and price as the standard plate, just a different outline.
Can I have the plate without the black border?
Yes — flick the "Black border" switch in the builder and the preview updates instantly.
Can I put anything on it?
Letters, numbers and spaces: up to 7 letters and numbers on a standard or hex plate (spaces don't count, put them wherever you like) or two lines of 4 on a motorbike plate. Most people put their reg on, but names and nicknames work too. We won't print anything offensive or hateful and will refund those orders.
Is it a real number plate? Is it road legal?
No. Baby Plates are novelty keyrings for fun and gifts, which is why you can put almost anything on them. They're not number plates and can't be used on a vehicle.
